The tonne (British and SI; SI symbol: t) or metric ton (American) is a non-SI metric unit of mass equal to 1000 kilograms;[1][2][3][4] it is thus equivalent to one megagram (Mg). 1000 kilograms is equivalent to approximately 2 204.6 pounds,[5] 1.10 tons (US) or 0.984 tons (old UK). Although not part of the SI per se, the tonne is "accepted for use with" SI units and prefixes by the CIPM, along with several other units like the bar, litre and day.

Carcass-Weight Equivalent (CWE) is the weight of meat cuts and meat products converted to an equivalent weight of a dressed carcass. Includes bone, fat, tendons, ligaments, and inedible trimmings (whereas product weight may or may not).


결국 "MT CWE"는 지육중량 기준의 톤 단위라고 보면 된다. 다시말해, 한국과 일본이 육류 소비량을 구할 때 주로 '정육'을 기준으로 하는 것과는 달리, 미농무성은 '지육(정육 + 뼈, 일부 내장 또는 지방)' 기준으로 하고 있다. 우리나라 쇠고기 소비량이 약 10kg 일 때 미농무성에서 나타난 쇠고기 소비량은 15kg 정도를 보이는데 이는 정육량과 지육량의 차이다.

2. 해석 주의

그럼에도 불구하고, 돼지고기 소비량에서는 차이가 좀 심하게 나타나고 있다. 우리나라 돼지고기 소비량이 약 25kg 일 때 미농무성 자료는 35kg을 보이고 있어 대략 10kg 정도를 차이를 보이는데 이는 오류의 여지가 있다. 그래서, 우리나라 돼지고기 소비량이 다른 나라에 비해 많아 보이더라도 이를 감안하여 해석할 필요가 있으며, 굳이 정정해본다면 미농무성 소비량에서 약 5kg 정도 차감해서 비교해보면 그나마 좋아보이지만 역시 이 또한 권하지 않는다. 원데이터의 임의변경과 차감의 적정성이 담보되지 못했기 때문이다. 김성호.
